David Starkey’s presence on programmes such as the BBC’s Question Time has been missed in recent years – especially by social conservatives. All the better, then, that groups such as The New Culture Forum, directed by Peter Whittle, should invite him – and other esteemed guests – to talk.
The historian offered his (very interesting) take on the coronavirus recently on the forum’s YouTube channel.
Musing on the major plagues which have occurred through history (both that of Europe, and the wider world), Starkey comments;
‘This is a very odd plague. It’s rather small in scale, but it’s gigantic in consequences; because we have chosen to inflict a form of economic suicide on ourselves’.
