MEDIA interest in Covid has seen a revival.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation is scaling back and boosters will now only be available (for free, at least) to the over 65s, as well as younger people with relevant health conditions, this autumn.

There has also been renewed interest in some Omicron sub-lineages. Attention paid to any new strains since Omicron in December 2021 has largely been unwarranted, outside of small specialist circles of real scientists who dedicate themselves to working on such things.

But the usual neurotic authoritarians grabbed the opportunity of a couple of new variants in an attempt to reinvigorate momentum for their vision of a Puritanical ‘better future’ – one in which we all shroud our faces in public, and so on.
