Failure after failure: the Tories in government
There's no question that the constant dirge of scandal around Number 10, on partygate and many other issues, has hugely damaged public confidence in this government. It is utterly absurd that the Sue Gray report was kicked into the long grass alongside the timing of the police investigation. To most people the cover up and slew of excuses have been worse than the scandal itself.
What is even more significant however is the amount of people that are dissatisfied with this government's ability to do what it was elected to do, despite holding a huge majority. There is no question those that voted for the Conservatives in 2019 expected a shift towards patriotic conservatism, whereas we have a government operating to the left of Blair.
Most people are far more concerned about the cost of living crisis fueled by net-zero, ever rising immigration and the failing NHS system, than they are about matters in Ukraine.
The role of the British government is to focus on the needs and security of the British people; it is the failure to do this and to deliver on what the public voted for that is the biggest blow to this government's popularity.
