Praise for those who voted against lockdown three

The list of praise-worthy parliamentarians shrinks by the day. But this duty of praise should — when necessary — be undertaken nonetheless.

The list of praise-worthy parliamentarians shrinks by the day. But this duty of praise should — when necessary — be undertaken nonetheless.

The following sixteen MPs voted against the imposition of a third national lockdown (plus two tellers), and should be remembered for doing so, in defiance of their supine, or ignorant (or, indeed, both), colleagues:

Conservative Party

Sir Graham Brady (Altrincham and Sale West)

Philip Davies (Shipley)

Richard Drax (South Dorset)

Karl McCartney (Lincoln)

Stephen McPartland (Stevenage)

Esther McVey (Tatton)

Anne Marie Morris (Newton Abbot)

Andrew Rosindell (Romford)

Sir Desmond Swayne (New Forest West)

Sir Robert Syms (Poole)

Sir Charles Walker (Broxbourne)

David Warburton (Somerton and Frome)

Democratic Unionist Party

Paul Girvan (South Antrim)

Carla Lockhart (Upper Bann)

Ian Paisley (Democratic Unionist Party, North Antrim)

Sammy Wilson (East Antrim)

Tellers

Sir Christopher Chope (Con, Christchurch)

Chris Green (Con, Bolton West)

Note that not a single Labour MP voted against the destruction of the very work which gives grounds for the expression ‘the working class’ (if this still exists). How matters change.
