This deal leaves the EU breathing down our necks

“This is not a simple trade deal but more of a treaty that will overshadow future agreements we wish to make, all part of a game to stop us becoming more competitive.”

The deal will leave the EU breathing down our neck for decades to come, with a review every four years. A review that could mean the proposition of closer ties further down the road, something the EU would aim for to slowly tie us back in or as close as they can get us.

This is not a simple trade deal but more of a treaty that will overshadow future agreements we wish to make, all part of a game to stop us becoming more competitive. Brexit is over, but our relationship with Europe has not been defined indefinitely. That debate will go on forever.

Fishing is also less than ideal, there being huge concessions on that front and a situation that is left uncertain. Another can kicked down the road.

Dispute after dispute will emerge with the arbitration panel as we attempt new Free Trade Agreements. Also, if you want borders controlled then the Convention on Human Rights will remain a huge legal block. Good luck with that one, Patel.

It's decent in many areas. The Government wrangled the best they possibly could but any deal was always going to leave strong ties that will weigh us down in the future.
