Why Russia will survive, and why the U.K. may die
Let’s face reality: the West is dying. It has weakened itself internally through wave upon wave of top-down social revolutionary change, which has deprived the masses of any metaphysical meaning in their lives. The modern mind worries more about what romantic, sci-fi comedies are on Netflix or whether their UberEATS will be impacted by strike action, rather than the world than their descendants will inhabit – should they bear any.
Through social dissolution ignited by an ongoing sexual revolution and an American Psycho-esque hustle culture that leaves no room for intimacy for the many climbing the ranks, and economic destitution fuelled by unaffordable house prices and precarious employment (so much for that hustle culture), the West has seen its birth rates plummet.
The number of children per women must state 2.1 or above, in order for a mother to biologically replace herself and her husband before they shuffle off this mortal coil. The United Kingdom has not hit replacement level since the 1970s, and is currently hovering over the 1.5 mark.
Are you panicking yet? You should, because without children, there is no future. The propaganda power brokers pulling the levers from the UN and WEF are warning you about overpopulation, but this is a lie with ulterior motives. Besides, how can you worry about too many people when statistics and graph projections show the opposite?
Fortunately, some nations have brushed away the leaves concealing the ticking time-bomb under their feet, and have called upon the greatest disposal experts in the business in a desperate attempt to diffuse it. Japan, the textbook case in population collapse, has lowered the age of adulthood to eighteen, granting the nation’s youth more time to build their incomes, savings, and careers.
Hungary, no doubt an inspiration to all of its neighbours (although unjustly vilified), has pulled out all the stops to reverse a birth rate that’s lower than the European Union average. Armed with a fertility campaign spearheaded by the country’s paternalist leader, Viktor Orban, Hungary offers state assistance to those buying seven-seated cars and grants interest free loans of around £28,000 to young couples that are written off when three children join the family.
Another nation that is trying to exist past the year 2100 is Russia, and understandably so. The Motherland’s population demographics and trends are a battered victim of Russia’s recent, violent, and apocalyptic history. Russia has not yet recovered from the population loss it was handed by the Axis powers in World War 2. History does not often repeat itself, but Russia’s census data always rhymes as if commanded by the winds of time. This is a result of the generation of fighting age men losing their lives to the German army not having children, and then their children not having children, and so on and so forth.
Now Vladimir Putin wishes to reverse a worrying fertility rate that has not hit replacement level since the days of the Soviet Union. Despite the Great Patriotic War being long buried under rubble and mud, Russia is shrinking, not geographically or even geopolitically or economically, but because its people are vanishing. Not through Stalinist purges, but a classical numbers game: too many deaths and emigrants, not enough births.
In another echo to the past, Putin is resurrecting Stalin’s Mother Heroine award. Under the revived scheme, Russian mothers who raise ten or more children will receive a £13,000 payment along with a gold-medal, as if the heart of Russia was resting on their bosom.
Francis Fukuyama may have been correct when he declared that it was the ‘end of history’, but not in the way he intended, and his argument does not hold true as widespread as he had claimed. For advanced, G7 nations that are unable to place new generations on the conveyor belt of history, these nations will die.
Immigration is not a solution. As we have witnessed through our TV screens and interaction with every-day life, high levels of immigration only serve to dilute and erase common culture, shared moral values, and national loyalty. The bonds that tether the people to the land and one another are severed, as if a surgeon has performed a vasectomy with a hacksaw.
An American study which involved more than 30,000 people concluded that so-called ‘diverse’ societies are less trusting, less charitable, and less involved in community life, because there is less common ground with one another.
Therefore, should a nation wish to continue existing, it must bring children into the world, or it is doomed. Putin is acutely aware of this, and more policies are no doubt in the pipeline. This is why Russia, despite the obstacles it has and will always encounter, will live to see another century. Similarly, despite its geopolitical muscle and economic might (comparatively), the U.K. is slowly erasing itself from the world, and may die altogether.
